Hi

I hope it will be very good, like an concours 240z!

This time period of year is a little bit complicate, because hollidays slows the job, but hope to have it ready to run very soon.

I also bought to put on my 240z the original headlight chrome light covers. I like to see them on Z!

Thank You

Filipe A

Hi Filipe:

Since you used two pictures of my white 72 240-Z on Page 4 of that discussion forum... I'm hoping you will at least translate the captions related to them {vinyl top and side stripes}... How did you ever find those pictures?

You have an amazing restoration project there... You'll have to tell us far more about it.

regards,

Carl

Hi Carl

The first time that I saw the 240z, I just stay, may be an hour, to look at it and said... "Is this a Datsun?... Them I tried many times to buy one, but I didin`t work at time, so I couldn`t afford it, (I had 17 years old) and my father always told me that it was junk... :)

Some years after the search begins, I had to find a good one, but many of them were in really bad shape and very expensive, for example, another 240z that you will see in the next link, the guy bought it for 6000€, near 8000 USD, I guess in USA it was a parts car only. Jut get an idea…

Them once a saw a 240z (my car) for sale, I don`t like to tell it, because I think this is told around the world, but my 240z was really from an old man, mine is sure (because sometimes sellers said it was from an old man or woman that work near home, few miles, excellent condition and sometimes it has twice it`s miles, and it was the son that run the car since ever). So I negociated the car about 2 years, the engine didn`t work very well, because it needs a spark plug wires, so keeping lower the price (PS at the time I didn`t know what was the problem, so I had to be carefull) and at the end of almost 2 years I bought it.

My restoration project start, because I love my car, the 240z!!!!

So, with my project and my 240z that I love to much, I want to show people that this car is very alive around the world, want to show that in the US we can get all the parts, and it can be new, and it means OEM Nissan parts.

I want to show also that, for me the 240z has the same value as a Porsche 911 at the time, because it is more reliable, it is strong enough, it wins many races, like Safari… and many others. Even today around the world, In France the MonteCarlo, it shows it`s value.

I must tell that the prices in Portugal and in Europe are growing up very fast. I don`t want to show here nothing with what I will say, but I have a guy that has a great car collection (Aston Martins, Porsches, Bentleys, Toyota 2000 GT also…) and he offers me for my car when it finishes near 35000€, more them 45000 USD, because in Portugal this car is rare and it has almost all the options that Nissan has for the time, INCLUDING the original magnesium wheels (same as 432Z ), the front and rear spoiler from BRE style it was all standard.

I have some friends in USA that never had seen the turn switch with high light beam, and in Portugal it was standard also. (also shown in my page)

Now Carl, that`s why on 4 page appears your`s 240z (that I didn`t know it was yours :) that 2 photos that I collect from a website shows the few cars that I saw with the “option”, like the vinil roof and decals.

In that page I want to show the diferences between some options that were available on Zs in Europe and in USA.

With the beginning of my restoration I had bought through Ebay, MSA, BlackautoDragon, Datsun Restoration, Datsun Spirit, many parts for me and for my friends that started to restore their cars, they didn`t know that USA has many parts, so I gave them all the information possible and help them too.

I want to increase the value of the Z, because it deserves it!

ill try my best at a loose translation

"O tejadilho em vinil estava também disponivel embora, penso que em Portugal nunca tivesse existido, mesmo nos EUA é uma visão rara. Na foto do 240z branco, tinham acabado de retirar o vinil"

I believe that in Portugal the vynil top never existed pretty much like in the U.S. where it is a rare sight. The photo is of a white 240z that had just had its vynil top removed.

"Estes autocolantes estavem disponiveis de origem, (ver microficha acima)"

these decals where available through the factory (look at the microfiche above)

Hi Filipe,

I´m deeply impressed. My hometown is Munich and I´m also a big fan of Z cars. I bougt my 73 240Z in February 2007. My restoration will not be as perfect as yours, but I hope to get a very good car. It´s almost ready now and I will be able to post some more pics in about 2-3 weeks. Sorry for the poor quality.

It´s great to see, that the European Z-community is growing. In Germany I guess we have also only aproximately 50 cars alive.

Hi Juergen

Yes, these beautifull Z cars are a rare sight in Europe, and now is usually to see some units coming from USA to, Germany, Belgium, Luxemberg, Portugal; UK.
