August 10, 200717 yr comment_217965 I guess he subscribes to the adage a picture is worth a thousand words. In which case he has 26,000 words. He also states for more information to call. August 10, 200717 yr comment_217987 Hmmm...I think I've seen this car before. Is that oil on the swaybar, tied rod boots and front X-member? Undercarriage pics make suspension pieces look rusty, particularly rear control arms. Pic of dash from driver's side looks like a cap, but hard to tell.Would be nice if it sold for $18,500--it'd make my car look all that much better! August 11, 200717 yr comment_218060 It's a beautiful car but I guess he's never heard of simple green. The pass frame rail looks kind of stained. The amount of oil on the undercarriage makes it look like he just cleaned the top side of the engine for the shots. It also looks like the undercarriage was just sprayed over with black or improperly prepped or the salt has begun to eat away.My friends father passed away leaving him a 5 yr old F-150 from Kentucky. Everything underneath looked like it had been sprayed with sulphuric acid! I grabbed a brake line and it crumbled in my hand and the oil pan had just sprung a few leaks from rust pocking. I hope this Z hasn't seen such corrosive influences and was properly stabled for the winters. The interior is nice even if it has been carpeted. At least if you had to haul your girl around she wouldn't mind getting in this one. August 11, 200717 yr comment_218107 This car was on Ebay a while ago. The oil on the sway-bar is the give away. I would not touch it. It seems that the seller is misrepresenting it somehow. IMHO. August 11, 200717 yr comment_218115 Where's the hood badge? What about the rusty exhaust, shot ball joint, oily engine, fake seat covers, incorrect battery cable, oil filter, wheels,? Are those Euro taillights? For a car with less than 30K, there seems to be a lot of questionable stuff. Looks like it has a dash cap. Why doesn't it have cargo strap or diamond patterned vinyl? There are lot of good things about the car though, and they are obvious as well. August 11, 200717 yr comment_218125 Sometimess, there's a fine line between "Fully Restored" and "Mostly Refurbed". Looks like he texture coated the front suspension & steering pieces. And, who knows, an aftermarket shift knob may be viewed as a plus on a "restoration" by some ebay buyers.Dennis '71 Z, Original Owner Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/25160-frame-up-resto-240-on-ebay/#findComment-218125 Share on other sites
August 11, 200717 yr comment_218130 Terms like 'fully restored' generally turn me away from a car since the meaning differs from seller to seller. And on a car that technically has no frame, a term like 'Frame up resto', though that was Austen's term not the seller's, don't really make much sense to me without some kind of explanation. With a reserve somewhere between 13.5-18.5k, I'm sure we'll see this car on eBay again. Not to mention the '0' feedback score. August 12, 200717 yr comment_218164 If my uncle wore a dress he'd be my aunt. Oh wait a minute in this day and age he still may be my uncle. Frame up restoration poppycock.Nice refreshing job, restoration I don't think so. There are so many things wrong with the car to call it a restoration it's a joke.
