courtesy lights

:stupid: I have a 82 280zx 5 speed non turbo. every time i open my doors the door lights come on but the dome light doesnt. if i open the hatch the dome light comes on. i checked the two wires going into the courtesy lights under the dash, both wires are hot, no ground. whats up with that? please help!!!! i need my under the dash courtesy lights!!!!!!
