February 1, 200817 yr comment_236033 Another data point...I just recently looked at #502 with a build date of November 1969. Its hood matches the blue hood in the first post. February 1, 200817 yr Author comment_236049 I replaced the hood on 26th in 1990 without noticing the differences. The original hood had been bashed and a new hood from Datsun was cheap. It is just like the blue one I posted. Seems like a 3rd production Kats mentions. Funny, the part number doesn't change..65100-E4100Just for grins, the part number for the PZR hood in FRP is 65100-E7200 Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/25189-early-hood-differences/?&page=3#findComment-236049 Share on other sites
February 1, 200817 yr comment_236073 Sometimes, I don't like what I find here on the site.Looks like my hood must have been replaced at some point. It's a #3 hood with the reinforcements, and holes. Doesn't seem to jive with the build date of 02/70, so it must be newer. June 11, 20195 yr comment_577428 My 9-70 had the early style hood. No corner reinforcements... just a tab and no side drain holes Edited June 12, 20195 yr by 240260280 Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/25189-early-hood-differences/?&page=3#findComment-577428 Share on other sites
June 12, 20195 yr comment_577469 My 12/70 #15721 has a #2 hood, reinforced corners, no holes beside hood release and angled release lever. Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/25189-early-hood-differences/?&page=3#findComment-577469 Share on other sites
June 12, 20195 yr comment_577513 My 07/70 has an early hood as well, No drain holes, no reinforced corners. And I am sure that it had a flat hood release, but I mixed up my parts when I was putting it back on which means zKars has it in his parts pile now. June 26, 20195 yr comment_578389 This new listing, a '73 240Z, on BAT seems to have different style of hood, not previously discussed here. It has corner reinforcements without holes/with angled hood release handle. This '73 is a very nice original example that is going for strong money after one day, https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1973-datsun-240z-95/ Here's a pic of the hood. Edit, My mistake this hood is a #2 production as described by @kats in post #13. @Mike B's '72 has this same hood, post #12 of this topic from Aug '07 Edited June 26, 20195 yr by CanTechZ Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/25189-early-hood-differences/?&page=3#findComment-578389 Share on other sites
June 27, 20195 yr Popular Post comment_578420 Hi , I forgot to report this , I found this car for sale in June 2017 in Japan . 09/1970 on the door jam tag . This car has an early bonnet which looks to be origin to this car but , the edge of the bonnet doesn’t have a small tab which can be seen in the one from 69- 1970 early. So , this could be the second bonnet , no holes / no reinforcements , no tabs . I enjoyed discovering this car’s condition, many original parts still there . It was a fun to look at various type of “ date” markings are corresponding. The seat belt 8 /1970 , the tool’s contents paper “ 45 . 9. 10 “ September 10th 1970 ) , even the wiring harness showing 70. 9. (September 1970 ) and , I see the jack has corresponding date “ P H Y “ ( 1970 August 25th ) . Someone has to rescue this car , still sitting outside of the shop . Sorry I wrote to many things , just I wanted to give some information of the date to see when this betweenness was applied from and up to .
