Posted August 18, 200717 yr comment_218921 Thank goodness for this site and the knowledge and maturity within! Not all sites are created equal! The Story My youngest son is getting ready to go off to college in Philadelphia. That is approximately 600 miles from our home in Indiana. So, while on vacation last month I purchased a new Honda Civic Hybrid. I figured it would be great for him or us to be able to travel to and from Philadelphia getting 50+ mpg. In driving the car around town we have been consistently getting only 30mpg which is well below the advertised 48 city mpg. This site has been of so much help I decided to find a similar site for the Hybrid. I located a site and posted my problem under technical to see if anyone had any like experience and what the problem might be. I received a reply within a few short hours, and I quote; "since u just bought the car ... take it to the dealer where u purches the car and told them "what the **** is wrong with this piece of $^!# ! it doesnt even reach 41mpg, and i drive like a old lady!"" As I said, NOT ALL SITES ARE CREATED EQUIL! Jerry Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/25257-not-all-sites-are-created-equil/ Share on other sites

December 11, 200717 yr comment_231101 I've got a 06 Civic EX purchased 11/05, and I love it. I get 30 - 37 mpg combined, all depending on how much 'sense' I use when on the highway. Recently my 21yr old drove a leg of a trip to Fla. while I was napping. He got like 25 mpg, I think he may have gone a bit over the speed limit!! Overall, I am ecstatic with the performance/mpg comparison and I really don't believe that your hybrid will yield you any more than about 40mpg. By the way, how is your 'resto' going. December 11, 200717 yr comment_231123 no new vehicle gets the mileage they claim. it is alway over stated. i think they reach the claims under extreme conditions like no wind, flat terrain and smooth excelleration and coasting stops. December 11, 200717 yr comment_231127 http://www.hybridcars.com/gas-mileage.htmlhttp://www.greenhybrid.com/compare/mileageSome hybrid links that may provide substantive info for you...The EPA has come under fire for testing car mileage with no accessory drag on the engines, elevating mileage estimated in the process. There's been some talk of "real world" EPA estimates of fuel consumption with lights, stereo, AC on while driven over variable terrain, but I've lost track of what's become of that discussion...Steve Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/25257-not-all-sites-are-created-equil/#findComment-231127 Share on other sites
