im in/out of the junk yards all the time and the $^!# i see people stealing.

is pathetic.if a business is selling a service/product and you take it without

paying for it thats theft. my doctor friend whom just bought a 3.1 ltr from rebollo last month was caught stealing parts at ecology in chula vista last year. he can spend 8000 for the rebollo but no 15 for the oil pump.. oh!!

He was embarrassed as hell, the secruity gurads told him to pay up or the police will be called. If i owned a junk ward i would have a scale and weight the customers before and after leaving the yard. it's amazing the weight people gain in a short amount of time.

"hypothetically" Thats a mouth full of s--t - Theft is theft - what if the car was parked "by" a junk yard for a year. Seemed to be abandoned and had a BRE oil cooler - maybe that would be ok too. I hope not but there's not much difference.

I'm getting vertigo up on this pulpit, not used to the heights.

Agreed. But thats in relation to someones personal property and I believe the DMV has procedures for getting ownership of Abandonned cars.

This "hypothetical" assumes a "company" has ownership of a rare and historicly significant car and is about to destroy it with no regard in saving it for future generations to enjoy and learn form it.

I read a True story of a Pennsylvania Railroad E7A diesel locomotive #5901 that was built in the 1940's.

The E7A's was the equalivent of the Nissan Skyline GT-R R34 as any train buff will tell you :)

The Pennsylvania Railroad was a famous Railroad company which went under in the 1970's but had a huge fleet of these beutiflully painted Marron colored E7A's with Gold Pinstripping and this one was the last one left in existance from any Railroad. The very last E7A !

Well It was about to be sent to the scrape yard back in the early 1990s (if I'm getting the date right).

Long story short E7A #5901 was stolen by the employes and hidden in a roundhouse of all places untill they were able to fight and win ownership of the E1 from the then current railroad company.

It is now restored in origanal Marron and Gold paint scheme and availble for all to see and enjoy :)

Like wise the prototype SD9 locomotive (built circa 1940's and equilivent to our 280Z) that was owned by Southern Pacific Railroad was also saved from the cutting torch in the 1990's, but not with as much drama, now at a train museum in Illinois.

Actually I take that back as SP really wanted to torch the thing ... !

It's true though that thou shall not steal, out of greed.

So if all legal means have failed then hide and seek is sometimes the only way to keep "Historicle stuff" from being destroyed and lost forever as history is full of story of things being saved from certain destruction because someone had the nerve to pilfer them :bandit: a.k.a. don't get arrested :tapemouth

hey it was at ajunk yard it was prolly gonna get smashed sooner or later ...(snip)

What kind of logic is that? That's their business...what's left of a vehicle after the public has picked its bones, is sent to the crusher. This peticular part wasn't going to get crushed because you saw and wanted it, the problem arose when you choose to pilffer it, as opposed to purchasing it.

like im saying dont judge anyone until you have walked in there shoes, and this same junk yard also has jipped me for some windows that didnt even fit in my car and they gave me a lil receipt saying if i find those same ones that willa cutally fit my cal i can take them....and when i did the receipt only had 3 more days till expired and i had to end up paying for them so serves them right true story...i didnt even end up using the windows

Two wrongs don't make a right. If you were unhappy with their return policy, you could have taken your money (or in this case your pockets) elsewhere.

So you guys are sweet and innocent angles? You've never taken something for nothing? Never Borrowed something permanently? Ever got back too much change for something you bought and did'nt say anything, even after you realized it?

Let he who is without sin, cast the first stone.

Nuff said. And if any of you who critisized him think your perfect or guilt free, think again.

Dave.

Now say sorry, congradualte him on finding and rescuing a very rare part and get on with your lives. As for the Z-GODS, they too are happy that the part is in better hands and will be reserected from certain doom.

PS, Nice find and rescue FailadyZS30
