Posted August 24, 200717 yr comment_219651 I wanted to post this link to a car I saw for sale last month on ebay. It obviously didnt make its reserve price but thought some of you might want to have a look. It might not be to the taste of the absolute purists out there, but still a very nice job done on the restoration/refreshing. Click the link in the ad to see alot of photos of the car both before and after. The before shots looked great, the after speak for themselves.http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1972-Datsun-240Z-Original-Mint-Vehicle-Restored_W0QQitemZ150153188342QQihZ005QQcategoryZ6187QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/25316-one-of-my-favorites-is-back-on-ebay/ Share on other sites

August 25, 200717 yr comment_219663 He He... "Original Mint Vehicle Complete Body Restoration" That is a classic statement. He seems to have put a lot of work into it. It is a nice (very nice) restoration, however it isn't original... August 25, 200717 yr comment_219677 I'm fairly sure (but I could be wrong...) the owner had posted quite a bit here in the forum about this car.... from pre-purchase to repairs, including plans for his options to get it back to Canada. From what I recall, his purchase was less than what it was cracked up to be, and he's regretted not taking Carl up on an offer to give it a looking over. But that being said, he bit the bullet and gave it a proper fixing & also followed with some details about the repairs, which IIRC he put some of his heart & soul into. This wasn't all that long ago, and for what he sank into it I'm a bit surprised to see it up on eBay this soon... On the other hand, maybe this is a completely different car with some similar history... the one I am referencing was not a "near mint" car to begin with. $18.5K would require me to put a lot of faith in his work and abilities. I must say it looks pretty nice, but the definition of "showroom condition" is somewhat left to the interpretation of the buyer. August 25, 200717 yr Author comment_219682 I agree with what all was said by you guys, from the stock interior, aftermarket seats line to the "frame up" restoration...but you have to admit, that is one pretty Z and it looks like he did it right from the photo links he posted. True, $18.5K is alot of $$ and if I was going to drop that kind of money, I would probably want to be in charge of the resto myself to make sure it was done the way I wanted...but you cant take away from what he did, that is one sweet ride! August 25, 200717 yr comment_219708 I saw that car in person when I went to look at a door troubledz had at his shop. The body looks excellent. He also documented the whole restoration, have a look from the ebay link. I forget where he said the seats came from, an old Porsche maybe? I think its worth at least what its going for on ebay right now, and considering its location it may be the only choice around for a totally clean Z. I hope he gets top dollar for it. August 25, 200717 yr comment_219709 This part is confusingInterior Completely stock. Aftermarket seats.?Would the phrase 'except for' inserted in between eased your confusion?"Original Mint Vehicle Complete Body Restoration" Suffice to say, the the man put a lot of work into this car and, for the most part, walked us through it. And it was about as 'frame up' and the work could have been. And I think he did a damn good job. Maybe that's why he doesn't post here anymore. Most of us don't have cars that are original and we can't even agree on what 'original' is. Yet that's the first thing that gets ripped on one of these 'let's see how many things we can find 'wrong' with this car' threads.
