Install of new MSA Radiator Shroud

I think the picture you posted has it upside down... you should find the fan a bit off center towards the right (with the extra space, if you will, on the left, and the narrow on the right).

It's getting late here where I am... am I correct, folks?

No, not the same four holes... Your radiator should have eight mounting points... four on the front where it bolts to the car, and four on the rear (side where the hoses mount) that are a bit more closely spaced together. Those last four are where the shroud will mount to the radiator... Check to see if you can tell what I mean. If not, I'll try to get a pix or two for you later... I have both a radiator and a shroud sitting loose in the garage right now... (actually about three rads! ... need one?)

John,

Is this shroud the fiberglass shroud? The reason I ask is I installed one on my 240Z which has a plastic fan and I found a problem that might be wise to be aware of. I don't mean to be an alarmist, but I found out that at highway speeds the air load on the shroud is sufficient to caused it to flex enough to make contact with the plastic fan blades at the top of the shroud. When you complete your install, I would recommend that you check for any flex of the shroud and adequate clearance between the top inside of the shroud and the fan blades.

I haven't heard of this problem from anyone else so it may have just been an anomaly with my install.

I wouldn't feel right though if I didn't mention my experience with this. I am sure your install will work perfectly.

I had one years ago from MSA that would suck into the fan too. I wound up strapping it to the support infront of the radiator to keep it from getting pulled back. Mine was a bit warped when I got it so I thought that was the cause.

The one I have shown in the pictures is metal, so I'm not expecting any major amount of flex. The point about flexing is a good one, although, and I'm glad it was offered... I was thinking about a non-metal one for another Z that should have one.... It's amazing what the shrouds do for cooling (at least in my experience). The belly splash pans tend to help as well.
