Wait a minute... I thought you said earlier that there was spark at the coil!??

If the coil is new and isn't producing a spark then it is caused by points, condenser or a wire being unsecured/broken. There is a blade connector on the side of the distributor which may be unplugged or loose.(Near where cap and dizzy body meet) Check that it is plugged in. Also check that the points contact faces are free of pitting. Replace the condenser with an old one or new one that is know to work.

Despite your light test run a wire from the battery + terminal to the coil + and crank to see if you can get spark.

You may or may not know about burning points. If you leave the ignition on and the points are oriented a certain way their faces will burn. It does not matter if they are new they will become useless. This is one thing that may have happened which is why I'm suggesting that you pry the points apart and check their faces.

well wometimes when i cranked it it showed sign of start.....but didnt turn on and it did use to spark but now nothing...im going to check out what you told me of the battery to see what up thanks for the advice on that

Check your points. Give them a quick sand down with the highest grit you got, 220-600 is fine I guess. Something very similar just happened to my car and this fixed it right up. Give it a try.. might work.

hello and how ya all doing? i need help. i bought a 76 datsun 280 from a friend. he told me all i need to change is the feul pump and the car will start up. i changed the pump and put in a battery. i tried to the start the car but not cranking or sing of trying to start. but all headlight and taillight turns on and off. pls help me solve this problem. any idea will help. i am also looking for a wiring diagram on how to installa an aftermarket stereo and installating racing on this car. thanks for your help.

Hello and how u doing? my question is, how do i post a thread or topic dat am looking answer for. i have problem dat i need help with. i am a owner of a 1976 datsun 280z. the car has a new battery but for some reason, when i turn the key to ACC the stereo doesnt turn on and when i trun the key the second time to ON all the function doesnt come and it cant start. but whenever i turn the key, i can hear a clickin sound under the dash by the passenger seat. pls help me. i have checked the fuse. i noticed dat there is power on the battery side and no power on the ACC and IGNition side.
