I've seen those. I don't know. They seem kind of pricey for remakes.

I think the consensus was that there were only badges like this for the 510, and BRE/Interpart never made a 240Z badge like this - so, technically this badge is not a remake - it's a "new-make."

There WAS a wreath design for the 240Z, and it is known to have been applied to a car cover and to a bra, but no badges were found in the Interpart catalogs. Also, the original 240Z wreath said "National Champions 1970/71" - this "newmake" badge says "C Production Champion."

Having said all of the above - this IS a nice looking badge.

I too, thought it was pricey. More than likely an attempt to make money from the "Z" folks, than a real piece (there were 10 available when I posted). But, having researched it, I know that it takes a bunch of $ to make the first few (due to mold costs etc.).

I posted it more for the discussion of than the veracity of the item. Then again, whether it's an obscure and heretofore unknown relic or a newly designed piece, it is from their uniqueness and appeal factor that pieces become desireable.

AAA used to give away metal emblems to new members to mount on their cars, now those emblems command a pretty penny. Same with auto club , car marque, and even sports car association emblems.

Personally, I would like to see a Z emblem that we can all use. Whether it's one of the ones available on e-bay (which I have but I'm not real thrilled with it), or we can come up with our own.

I've mentioned that we can all chip in and make a CZC emblem for the grille, but I've yet to hear any support.

I know the guy that makes them, He lives in Everett, WA. They are top notch items and he puts a lot into them. They are pricey but he's also put alot of his own money into making the them available to all who are interested.

The seller also sells a smaller version of this badge. I recently bought one of the small ones and took an old damaged shift knob and expanded the hole in the top slightly to fit it. I haven't permanently mounted it yet, so it is just sitting in the hole in the attached photos.

The workmanship does appear to be first-rate. And IIRC the seller makes no bones about this being a part that is patterned after similar badges for the 510, not a reproduction of an actual BRE part.

My problem is, quality and such not withstanding, I don't personally care for grill badges on my cars. Never have. Didn't have any on the MG, and don't plan to have any on my Zs, either.

I do like what Mike did with the shift knob, though.

I have a couple of the large badges, and the quality is first rate. The seller is a really nice guy, and offers the shift knobs complete in a variety of exotic woods. Nice stuff!!

I am thinking about mounting the badges over the sail panel vents.

I have a chrome badge with a large Z in the center surrounded by black and across the top it has in small lettering fairlady Z I know it is not anything original but I do like the look. I would prefer a oval badge and am going to bring it up at our next club meeting and see it our members would want a badge that is exclusive to our club. We have over 50 members now and the quantity might make them affordable. I am not a goo gaa kind of guy and I favor the ''less is more'' for my Z. But I do like a small oval badge if done simply. Gary
