Posted August 28, 200717 yr comment_219970 Is the key-in switch (for the theft -deterrent sfeature) part of the ignition switch assembly, or can it be serviced or replaced separately? My buzzer for the key-in doesn't seem to go off lately. The problem might also be from a bad door switch but I will probably want to install a new one first.thxZ Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/25349-key-in-switch/ Share on other sites
August 28, 200717 yr comment_219976 For the frist two years or so that I owned my present Z I didn't even know it had a key-in buzzer but I really wasn't too concerned about it. One of my projects back then was to go through all of the electrical connections one by one and clean, repair or replace them as necessary. I had been having problems with the turn signals working intermittently, the heater blower only working on high speed, stereo would stop working then mysteriously start again, guages acting up, etc. When that tedious job was finished, not only did everything work as it should but the key-in buzzer returned and still works to this day. I'm not sure what made it work since I went through everything but it might just be a questionable connection somewhere in that circuit. August 28, 200717 yr Author comment_219993 Well, the door switch was flakey to begin with, so if the key-in switch wasn't working right, it would exaggerate things. I am also going through the electrical connections (still) and I have a list of things that will need to be replaced or investigated further ( like the trans kickdown solenoid.) But my radio now works reliably, since I repaired (replaced) the cheap plastic power tap the radio guy used.I need to get a new door switch(es) first, then see how things improve. thxZ Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/25349-key-in-switch/#findComment-219993 Share on other sites
