Hi,

I would like to ask every one who knows about this rare tools.

I have been wondering tools, the Nov 1969 parts catalog illustrated tool of jack handle, that is different which I have one and have been seen so far.

Also that parts catalog illustrated rubber holder of jack handle on the rear deck. But I do not think there could be a Z which is installed the rubber parts.

And then,I found the picture of these rare tool in the Nov 1969 Fairlady Z owners manual. Please see the picture of the rear deck. You can see the jack handle on it.Please note the spare tire holder, this is not seen on 240Z,my Z432 has this holder.

Does anyone have a Z which got this rare jack handle on the rear deck?

Thank you,

kats

Kats,

Keep in mind the Nissan Parts catalog often shows parts that may apply to more than just the 240. Since they made running changes to the production cars the parts book may show a picture of the a part but it may not apply to all models of the 240Z (69- July 73).

Here is a shot of the spanner wrench set that is noted in the parts book. They do not have NISSAN stamped on them. They actually have Sanki stamped on one side and Dropped Forged on the other. If you have a chance to buy any of the tools let me know. I know that Nissan USA does not have any in inventory do you think Nissan Japan would still have any?

Thanks for sharing the information.

Bob

Kats,

I think I may have the jack handle you are referencing, but I thought this might be from a later Z car, at least in the US. I dug out my various jacks and took some pictures. There are slight variations in each, which I could point out if you are interested. The jack that I think the handle came from has a different sticker than the others and it actually shows the handle being used on it.

Kats,

I think this is the jack that came with #237. Notice the different jack point on the top compared to the other jacks in my previous post. Also I think the early jacks may have only come with a sticker on the right side (showing the jack points) instead of two stickers that I think later jacks had (a second sticker on the left side with "Cautions For Changing Wheels" in english and japanese)

I also have two other jack related items that I have not seen on 240z's before, so I'm not sure if they belong on a different model z car or another model Datsun. The first is a black plastic jack cover. It fits only on one of the jacks that I have, which is slightly smaller than the others. I also have a slightly different rubber strap. The strap that I think is used to hold down the yellow chocks on series 1 240z's is in the bottom of the picture and the mystery strap is on the top. I think this may be from another Datsun and not a 240z. Has anyone else seen these before?

Thank you JimmyZ,

I really appreciate this,I wanted to upload as JPG,but my laptop forces to use Adobe suddenly.I need to work some ...

Yes,the wrench which Z432 got is showing NISSAN on the surface. The name is casting.Only two wrench and one puller they all have casting NISSAN name.

Bob,super nice wrench set:love:I believe I saw the tool set when you displayed your stock winner 240Z at Long beach, did not I?

I want set of wrench like yours.

Mike, you are tool fanatic!Thank you for these pictures.I need to look carefuly

mine and see what is a point between them.

It is fantastic that you have THE jack handle. From the parts catalog,I do not see the part number for the jack handle. But the rubber holder of the jack handle is there, however the number is not - E41.

That is -229 I guess this is primalily used for 510.

If I could find rubber holder and handle,I want to install them on the rear deck. But I need to drill rear deck to fit the rubber holder.

Yes. The black plastic cover was used on the 1974 USA 260Z 2+2. Purely cosmetic. There were no "tool bins" on these Z's, so the jack was secured to the floor near the feet of the backseat passenger.

Hi Bob:

I put your image first below - followed by mine.

I knew I kept mine - but it took some time to find them!! Mine are somewhat different than the picture you show. They are marked NTK on one side and Dropped Forged on the other. This is the set that I got through the Datsun Parts Dept. - when I ordered them for my 1970 240-Z.

FWIW,

Carl B.
