The problem is that he does have a screen unlike our 240's. Chances are the screen will not fare well even if it is blown. His best bet is to have a new line installed (sweated) and the old line sweated shut.

I wouldn't want to risk paying all of that money/spending time just to find that the screen won't flow and then have to redo the enitre thing. Once you sweat/apply heat any sealer will need to be completely stripped and replaced.

Now, IF he could somehow mask the screen...:)

I stopped at the local radiator shop and he said the EPA no longer allows him to service fuel tanks . I'll make a few calls tomorrow and see if the story is the same elsewhere. I looked on the Renu site and for the price approx 195.00 as a ballpark general figure, I agree overkill for this car. My main concern now is getting a radiator shop to boil it as I have no way to dispose of the chemicals from cleaning it .Jim I thought about the pickup tube and I will try and see if I can slide a piece of hose over it with the end taped off or run it outside the tank and secure it. I can make some kind of grab tool but I'm not sure if it's possible to slide anything over it with clearance issues. I'll look at that tomorrow after work. Thanks for the ideas.

As of yet no radiator shops in my area will work on a fuel tank . One said it is because the EPA no longer allows it in CT. So for now it will sit until I figure somthing out or just put it back in and deal with it in the spring.

something else to keep in mind--POR15 either regular or the tank version--is very very liquid in nature--it's not relatively 'thick' like paint about to set...when I did my tank, I was quite surprised at how 'runny' the product was and just by handling the product, I knew I would have no problems with it.

I would go as far to say that I am confident I could take a portion of a window screen off of a screen door, dip it entirely in this POR tank coating, and it would be 100% clog free in a few moments, just from gravity.

Just my opinion. I obviously don't have experience with this gas tank, just experience with the sealant. Good luck.
