LEE240ZPERTH Posted August 7, 2002 Share #1 Posted August 7, 2002 I am looking for advice on replacement seat covers for my 1970 240. There appear to be several seat kits on the market available from the U.S.A and Japan. If anyone has contacts or photo's of kits available it would be a great help. My car is original except for the wheels so I would like to obtain seat covers as close as possible to the original. Thanks for any help offered
2ManyZs Posted August 7, 2002 Share #2 Posted August 7, 2002 Too Intense Restorations has them, as well as Classic Datsun Motorsports ( they were part of the Z Store restorations a few years ago) as well as many other suppliers here in the US. These may be the closest to the originals however. If you look in our web-links area for Z car businesses, you should be able to find quite a few choices. Not sure about where you might find them "down under" but there are plenty of members here from your area that can help. Marty Rogan Posted August 11, 2002 Share #3 Posted August 11, 2002 Lee,If you are looking for originality, go with the Classic Datsun Motorsport covers. I got to visit their shop on vacation a couple of weeks ago. Their covers have the original pattern and texture. Others I have seen do not have the correct texture.Marty
24OZ Posted August 11, 2002 Share #4 Posted August 11, 2002 My drivers seat base is torn but the seat back is perfect and the passengers seat is like new.It is possible to just get the trim from another Z seat and swap them over.Dave Sommers kindly gave me this link which should help you out too, Project- Seat Covers What I want to know is why dont more people try and find second hand seats with good covers rather then buy new Z covers?? The passenger's seat is always going to be better then the drivers so there should be loads in the junk yard to choose from. No???
Marty Rogan Posted August 11, 2002 Share #5 Posted August 11, 2002 George,It all depends on where you live. That might work for you if you live in California or Texas.I live in Chicago, where rust is enemy #1 to Z cars. I have not seen a 240Z in a junk yard for 20 years. The internet is a big help though. Check this list and others such as Zcar.com or Zdriver.comUsing a passenger seat may be a short term fix though, as it is still going to be 30 years old.It depends on what your needs are.Marty
