Weather stripping question and tire tools

I'm confused about replacing the weather stripping around the hatch on my '73 240Z. I see kits with three pieces, but they look like they go around the top of the hatch and down the sides. My present weather stripping is falling apart at the locking mechanism and I'm sure that is the source of fumes in the cabin. There is also weather stripping in the channel that is a couple of inches higher and also goes around the hatch, but not at the bottom. This one needs to be changed as well. What do I need to replace both of these weather stripping pieces? Do you glue them in place? Source?

Also, I do not have any tire tools, jack, etc. Does anyone have a source to purchase tire tools?

Thanks so much, LouSalazar

Normally the kits cover all of the coupe models(240, 260, 280) and the weather strip kit changes through the years, so a three piece kit that includes '73 would be right.

The largest gasket installs on the pinch weld flange, the smaller piece fits over the flange it sits on, but usually is glued on using 3M yellow weatherstrip adhesive.

Precision makes the kits that most suppliers sell, The last one I Bought came from Victoria British?Black(DUMB NAME) Dragon. Most of the serious suppliers sell them, so shop for price as they are all the same. Search for Vendor List in the archives and you will come uup with the majority of the vendors.

On the tools, check the classifieds here, and ebay, plus you will probably get several replies to your post.

The hatch has two sets of weatherstripping.

One goes around the inner opening itself, and it's held on by pinch welding molded into the seal.

The second is the item you're referring to as coming in 3 pieces.

While the 3 piece item (the two sides are of the same style) is technically correct, some people have expressed that they like using the center item piece (with the bulb attached) in a longer length all the way around the top 3 sides more than the 3 separate pieces because it seals the rain out better.
