Posted September 14, 200717 yr comment_221581 I'm going to Tennessee the first week of October to celebrate my 21st by doing the Dragon's Tail in the Z. Has any one ever been? How was it? Where to stay? Anything else I should see?I'm really excited about this. I really need to get away from my life here in Indiana. I love Indiana but I need a break. I need to see something beautiful and get myself lost. Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/25537-doing-the-dragons-tail/ Share on other sites

September 14, 200717 yr comment_221593 A little farther South the same week is the ZCCA National convention...There is just something about having a twenty-first birthday on the beach in Daytona...at a Z convention! The Dragon is a great ride, if you don't make it to Daytona instead, I know you'll have a great time at the Dragon! In any event I hope you have a terrific birthday! Will Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/25537-doing-the-dragons-tail/#findComment-221593 Share on other sites

September 14, 200717 yr comment_221624 Here's a link to the zdayz website. It has not been updated yet for next year, but it still has loads of information that will be beneficial to you.http://www.zdayz.com/TBK1 is absolutely correct about the motorcycles-they will swarm around you like mosquitoes hunting for blood. Very annoying and inconsiderate! As to driving the dragon itself, I hope you like shifting..........constantly. Also, if you are to have a passenger with you, make sure that they take some sort of motion sickness medicine, even if they say "I don't get carsick." They will on this ride. September 14, 200717 yr comment_221641 I was on the "Dragon" last weekend. Couple of rules, stay on YOUR side of the yellow lines and be ready to stop if a sport bike doesn't follow the yellow line rule. Maintain more than 2 seconds following distance from the car/bike in front of you. It will give you time to react when something happens and it WILL happen. Also, MAJOR enforcement is still taking place on the Tennessee side of the Dragon. There were only two Highway Patrol vehicles when I was up there but the day before there had been 6-7. All were along the dragon. You can check out www.tailofthedragon.com for better details. You might also check out the Cherohola Skyway. While not as intense as the dragon it is a pleasant cruise with beautiful scenery. Here is a picture from last weekend. Not in my Z but still a fun car http://www.photoreflect.com/pr3/OrderPage.aspx?pi=04RK00JT050799&po=799&c= Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/25537-doing-the-dragons-tail/#findComment-221641 Share on other sites
September 14, 200717 yr comment_221653 To bad I don't have my Z here. Could have joined you! Those roads up in that part on TN/NC can get pretty crazy. Have fun, but mind the cars in front of you and watch out for what is behind you. Also watch for Semi's as they too like to drive dangerously. September 15, 200717 yr comment_221724 Darbji, there are a few of us in the general area (Brian and I are both about 1 hour away), and there are several others a bit farther away than that (but still within driving distance).A little convoy could be fun! September 15, 200717 yr Author comment_221727 Well, I have a lot to do before I go. I'm hoping I can still make it. I have valve stem seals to change and a few other small things to do. Not to mention I've never done a valve job before. It will take me a little longer. I also have a security system to install. But anyway, I will let you guys know what I decide to do and maybe we can all get together. :D:D Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/25537-doing-the-dragons-tail/#findComment-221727 Share on other sites
