glistx Posted September 14, 2007 Share #1 Posted September 14, 2007 I found a lot of information about door seals (weatherstripping) that can be purchased at jcwhitney, but what about the inner and outer hatch seals ( 72 240z). Has anyone found anything that works from jcwhitney? Oh, and the outer rubber window seals (the ones that keep the water from entering the inside of the door itself). Any info would be much appreciated. Thanks
THE73Z Posted September 30, 2007 Share #2 Posted September 30, 2007 I found a fair amount of discussion about weather stripping in general on this site. Most people are happy with OEM but it is out of this world expensive. Some people have had good experiences with various aftermarket products, but a lot of people (myself included) have found them to be a PITA. Usually, they are too firm or too thick and require you to use both hands to close your door or hatch. I have OEM and even that requires a little follow through when closing the door.Seems like someone had good experiences with JC W, but I can't be certain. Let your fingers do the walking.HTH, Z
xray Posted September 30, 2007 Share #3 Posted September 30, 2007 I just recently installed all new weatherstripping to my Z (5/72 build) and had minimal problems with the aftermarket (Precision, I think) seals I bought from MSA. There is some "irregularity" to the free edges of the hatch/body inner seal, but it seals nicely and looks fine.I don't know about JCW, but the MSA prices were not unreasonable.Steve
