its cool i understand so whats the stock motor in a 240z whats the specs

Welcome to the Z community!

Base specs for the entire Z series can be found here:

http://www.geocities.com/~z-car/specs/

Note that although displacement was increased 240Z -> 260Z -> 280Z -> 280ZX, the SAE horsepower actually decreased due to emissions regulation (weight also increased drastically which hampered performance further).

That car for $4,400 looks like a very nice deal as long as there are no major rust issues on the vehicle. The guys who did the work have a good reputation. Cast about for a member of the community to check over the car with you as we know where the typical issues lie...

Good luck.

In 1970, a Mr. Kent Clark and I purchased two new 240zs from B&V Motors in Lubbock. Kent bought his to race, while I bought mine to drive. I have mine back again. You might seek out Mr. Clark to discover the disposition of the Z he bought waaaay back when. I haven't seen his car since about 1972. It could very well be second generation beer cans by now.

Best of luck.

Frank
