There was and annual car show held this weekend by the South Hills Camber of commerce here in Pittsburgh. It was a beautiful day with approx. 400 cars. Of all the cars there were only 11 foreign cars and only one Japanese car, mine. As I have said before there are not a lot of Z in the Pittsburgh area.

A lot of people came up to me and said who much they liked the Z and remember it from the past, one lady ask me to start it because she remembered the Z fondly (her words) and how it sounded. I started the car and she just started to giggle said thanks and walked away.

Did you get an award? Any votes, or did the Porsche get all the votes? I'm interested in how people regard Zs in relation to others, like maybe American muscle cars or cars of the same era.

thxZ

My parents grew up in the Pittsburgh area (Monessen PA) and the always told me there wern't many foreign cars around there. It was a big steel area and buying foreign cars was buying foreign steel. All the time I spent up there I cant recall seeing much aside from American built cars. Makes something like an old Z rare I'm sure. It would be interesting to see how they feel about them now.

When I go to car shows, I'll get dozens of people telling me how awesome the 280Z is as a sportscar ( even other people showing cars/musclecars) but then I'll get almost no votes- even when I enter in the foreign car class. The Porsche or Mercedes will get all the votes.

TomoHawk, I called the chamber and ask who won the categories. There were 403 cars and there were 11 categories with one grand winner. The criteria for winning your categorie baically was how clean was the car with the hood and trunk lid open. New cars and any old car in the show were entered if they were there before 2:30pm.

The categories were as follows as best I can remember:

Best poney car

best Chevy

best GM non Chevy

best Corvette

best Forign car

best pre 1945

best truck

best AMC

best Ford non Mustang

and two others I can't remember

Best of show.

A 1971 VW bettle convertable won the forgin category. I talked to the owner durring the show and this car was very clean, it was totally restored.

The 2 people judged the cars from some car club here in wastern PA. They seem to judge alot of car shows around here. They were not going for authenticity just how pretty and sparkley the cars were.
