1975 260Z Diff

Technically, aren't all 260Z's 74 models, at least the ones sold in the U.S?

Anyway, an interesting question since the parts CD lists the R180 as "(Up to Nov 74)(From Aug 76)" And the R200 as "(From Oct 73)" I don't know which one was "Standard". Does it depend upon the build date?

I know that the 180 and 200 refer to the diameter of the ring gear.

I have a 1975 Datsun 260Z with the 4 speed manual transmission, I would like to know which differential that car has, r180 or r200? Thanks in advace guys

Got a digital camera? Take a photo of the back of the diff and post it up here. The differences are obvious to the trained eye.

If you dont have a camera, well the back plate of the R200 is rounder than the R180, which is square-ish. Also the bolt spacing of the mounting bolts for the R200 are wider apart than the R180.

Just search the forums for "R200 R180 differences" (not in quotes) and you'll find some usefull pics and info.

US 260Z's were built through November 74 due to Nissan being late in the development of the 1975 280Z which didn't come out until December 74. The 260Z's built from August 74 through November 74 would actually be 75 models at least they would have been registered as such.
