AndysPlit Posted October 4, 2007 Share #3 Posted October 4, 2007 Follow the original paint code. At least that's what I did. Persoanlly, I'm very picky about selecting colors outside what Datsun used. #306 Baby!
geezer Posted October 4, 2007 Share #4 Posted October 4, 2007 What I find helpful is looking through the gallery pics for inspiration and ideas. Different people have different tastes and ideas of what looks good, so in the end you will choose what is appealing to you. I change my mind every week, because they look good in every color of the rainbow. Unless you are a purist, then you only have the original colors to choose from. That's still a tough choice for me. Carl Beck Posted October 5, 2007 Share #8 Posted October 5, 2007 Come on guys.... that original Metallic Brown in 72 with the buckskin interior was beautiful. Equipped with Appliance Wire Mags, and bright yellow accents and pin-striping it was a knock-out!! Granted it didn't look too good 30+ years later.. all faded and weathered... Super rare color too...FWIW,CarlI was waiting for a Metallic Brown Z for 72 -but then I saw the Metallic Blue with the white interior...
Carl Beck Posted October 5, 2007 Share #9 Posted October 5, 2007 If you can't make up your mind as to what you want - then think future resale value... OEM Metallic Silver, Red, Lime Green, Persimmon....Resell the fastest and bring the most money... Of course if you change the original color - do a COMPLETE color change (inside/outside and under the hood)..FWIW,Carl B.you never know what the future will bring - but that doesn't mean you shouldn't prepare for it... kurtwwalters Posted October 5, 2007 Share #10 Posted October 5, 2007 My 72 is originally white with red interior. I'm changing the interior to white - a little off-white actually. I want to go with a pearl slightly off-white, kind of like what is on the 200x Cadillacs, using the 240Z black decal stripe across the bottom. I think it would go better with the off-white interior. I have a 70 that I am holding on to that I will go the purist route with (originally red).
