I still say a 280 is faster. Do you think a 240z would beat a 280"ZX" standard not turbo?

Just curious because I have beaten a few of them easily.

As far as weight I have no front bumper and a fiberglass hood. Weight can vary from each car depending on what is done to it. My friend owns a 260 that he literally pushed with two fingers after running out of gas. Light as a feather.

Zorro, you mean the logo on my icon/avatar? If so that is the logo for this club and you can download it from the homepage. Of course I modified mine a little in photoshop.

bollocks to that

Look at teh figures Zed posted. Yes, a 240z beats a 280zx, as does a 280z.

Of course weight changes if you change the parts on a car. :stupid:

If you're trying to prove that a modified 280z can beat a stock 240z then of bloody course .......... a modified civic can beat a ferrari. So what?

According to Nissan Motors Web Site:

240Z

0-60 in 7.8 seconds

-150HP

280Z (2+2) 0-60 in 9.4 seconds

-149HP

Basically a difference of just over a second.

Now add a five speed and the horsepower on a 280 increases by 20HP to 170HP overall. I am sure a coupe model 280 is alot lighter than a 2+2 as well.

LOL :devious: :D

GOOD GRIEF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

All I wanted to ask was whether there were any other 260's out there.

Looks like I've started a WAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

ROFL

My 260 is probably the slowest one of all 'cause I drive it.

Bravo to you Bravo 6 what a topic, I've never been so interested in a forum discussion. Datsun 76 ah I've never heard of a 280Z, are they in Australia? All 280's are 280ZX's do they look different? Thanks for the reply see ya.......

Hey Zorro,

The 280Z never made it to Oz, i think it made it to NZ though? Basically it was the early body shape with the later injected motor. It had fairly poxy (IMHO) bumpers to met the new laws that killed off chrome.

I always thought that they'd go alright as I 'assumed' they used the old style light weight body of teh 240Z. Where did the extra weight of the 280Z come from? Anyone?

Cheers,

R.

Undercoated 260Z 2+2 (which I still ascertain handles the best!)

Yeah the 280Z wasnt ever in Aus, it was the same body (with some big fat ugly bumpers to compensate for increasingly harsh crash testing standards) but with a 2.8 - same engine as teh 280zx I think... but I've given up arguing with datzun76 - I'll just be content in believing what I believe and besides, they're ALL Z's and thats what really matters.
