Painting a spook?

Has anyone thought of painting a spook/spoiler with a plastic truck bedliner paint? They come in various colors. You could either keep it black, paint it the same color as the car, or go with a darker version of the car's paint. This would kind of keep it in the shadow, like the black, but give sort or a constrast to car's color. And, the paint should reduce the likelihood of chipping, cracking and abrasions.

Just a thought. If it doesn't work, I am the village idiot. If it does work, I am the village genius.

While it would certainly improve durability, aren't most bedliner coatings quite thick and textured?

You can also get a clear coating that will protect the paint. I think it's called stoneguard, and it will create a rough texture like bedliner. It's usually used to paint the bottom sections of rockers, fenders & sail panels, the front lip, etc.

I have aircraft radar nose cone paint on mine - a benny of my days in the AF. Flat black and durable - can take winds up to 600 MPH.

Something tells me that paint in that area of an aircraft would be selected for its' transmissive rather than reflective properties.

What you could really use on the body is that paint used on KITT on the Knight Rider TV show.
