Ed Posted August 11, 2002 Share #1 Posted August 11, 2002 I want to touch up some chips in my paint but I can't find the right color. 110. Can I order this from the dealer or should I just go to a body shop and buy a quart?
skip260z Posted August 11, 2002 Share #2 Posted August 11, 2002 I ask because even if you could buy a new can of 110 Red off the shelf, your's would surely have suffered a tad of fade and weathering over the years... Anyway, a better way may be to find one of those auto-paint suppliers that custom-mix a color to the exact color of YOUR car. This allows for the variations in color over time. Here in the western burbs of Pittsburgh we have Loyds Auto Paint Supply that can do that.(This is a reason why when I get my car re-painted, I will have them use one of the "off the shelf" shades of red - so that I know touch ups will be readily available.) 24OZ Posted August 11, 2002 Share #3 Posted August 11, 2002 I'd say go to a paint shop, thats what I did. They even put it into a spray can for me. I spray into a jam jar and then use a thin brush to apply it. This works well with most paint but not metallic, metallic is quite hard to touch up as the metallic bits will stick to the brush and not go onto the paint unless you spray directly from the can but then thats not really a touch up but a really bad respray!
