October 15, 200717 yr Author comment_224626 well i went through the fuses and guess somthing got a better connection and its deffinatly trying to start now... could be dirty gas from a dirty gas tank not enough spark semi clogged injectors or i could just be dreaming. im gonna wait untill i get some help up here with decent tools befor i go tryin to clean the tank out... then ill go for new plugs if that doesnt work it has to be the fuel pump ie lack of pressure or bad injectors ie just not sprayin enough gas so. i dont really know where i stand or whats my best bet and what i should fix first i dont have a deep pocket so its going to be 1 part at a time. any one got a stab at what i should do first? October 15, 200717 yr comment_224629 Well, first off, I would start by going through all of your electrical connections. You already have experienced what dirty connections can do.Second, drop the tank for cleaning and clean out your fuel lines (replace filter, rubber lines, check the filter in your fuel pump-it is dirty). Look up a shop called Dr. Injector, or some other fuel injector cleaning companies, and send them off for a refresh. Also, you might search the site for a spreadsheet that will help you organize your time and progress. October 15, 200717 yr comment_224637 I'm still betting on the tank being bad. I experienced that same thing when i purchased my 78. Cleaning the connections is always a good idea but the tank is the logical problem considering the car hasn't been run in 7 years. You can't really check any of the other components properly until you have the car running. My injectors were fine. Once I had a good tank on my car, the only other things I ended up changing were a couple of fuel lines, fuel filter, and the cold start valve. Everything else worked even after sitting all of that time. I'm going to go up and help him the first chance I got. I'll bring a can of starting fluid, my test equipment, some tools and my portable jumper.
