Posted October 14, 200717 yr comment_224572 Alright, just signed in and here is my Introduction!! My name is Danny Martinez, and I am cuerrently stationed at Fort Hood, Texas. I own a 1977, 280z thats in need of A LOT of work!!! Currently, I'm trying to bring the car up its old running standard, without worrying about its looks. So far, so good... I guess. It has still alot of problems but it runs and is reliable. I had to pay about 2k to get it running and another 600 for a new radiator to be put in one the old one finaly went (about 500 miles after the engine was fixed). The car had previously sat for probably about 15 years if not more. If any one has in small hints or tricks that I can do to the car or check the car for to help improve how it runs, I'd appreciate them. Anyways, Hello people! October 14, 200717 yr comment_224589 Danny , welcome to our group. If you haven't already done this . check the hoses that run from the suspension to the wheel cylinders and calipers. Look for cracks and signs of deterioration. If ANY question replace them. Bleed the brakes and in doing so flush the system. Check the brake pads and Shoes if so equipped. Take a close look at all the rubber hoses on the fuel system and be sure to use injection rated hose, made to handle more pressure. Replace the fuel filters and of coarse change oil and filter and coolant. This is all just deferred maintenance , but you need to know what condition the brakes are in. Pack the front wheel bearings . As a preventive issue any time you unplug a connector clean it . The same with the sockets for the light bulbs. If you have any problems with the car let us know. October 15, 200717 yr comment_224613 Make sure that it is all clear of rust. If there is any rust, try and get that fixed first as this is the #1 enemy of the Z car.Check around the tires, engine bay, under the battery tray, a long the door rails, under the car, ect. Just look the car through and through several times.replacing the weather stripping would be a good idea.If you can post some pics and know issues so that you can be directed to what you need, sites for the parts, and tutorials for the given issues.Welcome to the club and enjoy.
