Headlight buckets

I have an early 1972 parts car and I am attempting to remove the headlight buckets. They are composite, not metal so I am trying to be real careful. I have removed all the bolts that I can see and still no movement. Do I have to remove the headlight itself from behind? Are there fasteners in the backside of the bucket. I am frustrated to say the least.:nervous: Thanks for any help and or advice. John

Three nuts on three studs attach the bucket to the fender. Use penetrant--most are rusted. You don't have to remove the headlight housing, although it may help with overall access.

Take your time. The studs are skinny and can easily shear from overheating/friction.

If the studs break or pull out of the headlight bucket, you can replace them with metric machine screws from the hardware store. Just file the round screw head flat on two sides so the new stud looks like a golf club putter and epoxy the head end into the hole in the bucket. Easier than it sounds.
