you would have to make modifications to the dash for the defroster to work. Race cars dont have defrosters...

Hi Ron:

Ah.. gee, I wish you hadn't reminded me. One of the top 240-Z drivers in C-Production lost the SCCA Championship Run-off's at Mid-Ohio a few years ago... when it turned humid, started to rain and he then realized that his defrosters didn't work... he realized it even more as the second place car passed him to finish in first place... as he struggled to wipe the windshield so he could see... he had the defrosters working for the next season... (wish I could think of his name...)

FWIW,

Carl

That reminds me of quite a startling thing I had happen to me a few weeks ago. I was driving from Dallas to Austin on a very humid day with a cold front moving southward with a very defined leading edge. About 50 miles north of Austin, I passed through the front going from 45 degree F air to 68 degree F air almost instantly. I had not been running the heater since I had a jacket and gloves on anyway, so the windows were very cold compared to the air and instantly all my windows/mirrors fogged over completely on the outside.

At first, I reached up to try to wipe the windscreen with my hand to no avail and realized it was on the outside. I ran the wipers but each the time the wipers came back for another pass the glass had completely fogged over again. Add to this a completely fogged over rear hatch glass and all side windows and mirror while driving 70mph down a crowded interstate and you get the picture.

If I had bothered to have my heater running from the beginning it wouldn't have happened, or perhaps not to such a degree.
