Tuning with the LM-1

Hello again. Just thought I'd fill you in on my new toy. I've been tuning our drag race truck (holley stealthram injected 355)http://www.stealthram.com/phpBB2/garage.php?mode=view_vehicle&CID=21 the hard way for a while now. Make a pass, change something, go over timeslip, read plugs, repeat.... Well a couple of weeks ago I bought the LM-1 wideband controller from Innovate Motorsports. http://www.innovatemotorsports.com/ This thing is great, not only can i see real time AFR readings but it also datalogs up to 5 channels and interfaces with the laptop to save and compare all of our passes. Anyway the point of this is we had a slow day in the shop last week and I put it on the Z (77 280). I knew the car ran rich because of the smell and black smoke, but I was surprised to see it idling at an extremely rich 10.9 : 1. The airflow meter is pretty new, and I have already done the usual (coolant sensor connectors, fuel pressure reg., tune-up parts) but I didn't realize the meter had to be adjusted. Anyone else had this problem? If so how do people normally tune their Z's? I've had 3 and they all seemed to run a little rich. After getting the car up to temp and watching the LM-1 I soon had the car leaned out to 14.0 : 1. What a difference, it idles smoother, responds quicker, and doesn't choke you out while driving. And it pulls to a nice 12.6 : 1 under full load. If anyone is near the Isle of Wight/ Newport News area I'd love to try it on another Z.
