mriz Posted October 17, 2007 Share #1 Posted October 17, 2007 Finally found a body shop to paint the Z. He actually stopped by the house to look at it to see how ready it was for paint. He spent about a half hour going over the car and showed me where I needed to spend more time. Still some low spots to fill but not too bad considering. But if painted in present condition he said I would not be happy with the car and will not paint it as is. The lip around the rear wheels will be the toughest for me. He said to take it as far as I can and he will clean it up if needed . Rough quote was about 2k ~ 3k possibly more depending if he needs to use hi build and block it. He said he has too much collision work lined up but you can tell he has a soft spot for classics as he showed me pics of a 240Z he painted 20 yrs ago fitting a 73 or 74 chevelle grill in place of the stock one. geezer Posted October 17, 2007 Share #2 Posted October 17, 2007 Yep, he's got a soft spot alright, considering he brought the pictures to show you. I think I would consider bribing him into doing the final prep work for you. It would be money well spent.
mriz Posted October 17, 2007 Author Share #3 Posted October 17, 2007 I agree, I told him it was his call to to use Hi build and block it if needed . He said take a couple of weeks to work on it and call him and he will come take another look at it. It was suprising to find someone who actually cares what it will look like instead of just taking the money . The other shops were not interested in even pricing the car.
