Sweet ride to be sure, but what kind of drugs is this guy on? $46,500??

If thats true, the values of ours just skyrocketed and I am gonna list mine for a buy it now of only $19,999!

True, this is a low mileage car and it looks to be in fantastic shape. If you never drove it, it would stay that way but the value would drop emmensley with every mile you put on it.

What do you guys think?

Seriously, though- that is a lovely car, but I wish the seller had posted some close ups of the dogleg area, battery tray, and rails.

I think the seller either doesn't want to sell, or has been watching too much of the auction shows.

That's the best looking non-restored Z I've seen in a while (but my exposure is more limited than others)...I hope he gets it. If it was a late 1969 build date, he'd be pretty close, but ultimately I think his BIN is a bit aggressive.

Maybe he meant the Cuda? Or the 442/Cutlass?

If this is the same car - it was advertised some time ago by the original owner at around $15K as I recall. Most likely sold for something less. A great buy at that price too...

This is indeed a great #2 car - but a few things keep it too far out of the #1 category to command much more than $20K in todays market. ( If you paid that much for it, you'd still be getting a bargain, because you couldn't begin to restore a car to this condition today for less than twice that amount.)

You'll note that the Cad and/or Zinc plated parts on the engine and in the engine compartment - have lost their original bright shinny "fresh" gold/yellow finish. That's the result of driving 19K miles rather than 9K. Note no pictures of the undercarriage... again 19K miles begins to show wear and surface rust etc...

Being a 260Z also bumps it down a notch from the top price level cars. Being an A/T also hurts resale value a bit. Most Collectors hate the dealer installed body side moldings as well.

Setting a $45K BIN simply shows that the seller wants the auction to run it's full course, and sets up the mental image in a prospective buyers mind that "maybe" it is worth that much. On the other hand most prospective buyers lose interest when the auction runs 21 Days... Buying most classics is done on an impulse... and 21 days gives prospective buyers too much time to think about it - and back off or out...

Just my opinion...

Look at his feedback. Perhaps he brokers in his spare time or is reducing his personal collection. He recently sold a RX-7, a Formula Firebird, and a Corvette.

All three of those cars sold for signifigantly less than the 260z's BIN. In fact, the Mazda sold for an offer that was about $2K less than it's BIN.

History is a little strange...

RX-7 was in Vegas with a 702 area (that is Vegas)

The 260Z, Trans Am and Vette are/were in Lemont, Illinois just outside Chicago...

Not sure how that works...maybe this guy is a service who posts vehicles?

Note that it is a Best Offer type auction...who knows what they'd take...

If it really is all "original" then that means 30 year-old spark plug wires, fuel hoses, tyres, wiper blades, etc., and unless it's been in a giant envirnmentally-controlled bubble, then the rubber things should be dried up and the tyres flat-spotted. OK, you can drive it for a hundred miles to re-round the tyres, but the car is still not all that new. I wonder just how good it really is, unless it's been driven periodically.
