October 18, 200717 yr comment_225172 It makes you wonder about things, because the seller only tells you about how unique it is, and that you wantto buy it. The only thing he mentions is the spark plug wires, but what about the rest of the car? What is so good about the car? Anything special what's its history? How many owners? Where was it originally sold, etc.?I thunk what Carl said in #7 is very relevant for this car. October 18, 200717 yr comment_225180 Stock protective film on sun visors? Thats pretty cool i must say. I cant keep protective films on for more than 2 hours let alone over 30 years. October 18, 200717 yr comment_225194 You'll note that the Cad and/or Zinc plated parts on the engine and in the engine compartment - have lost their original bright shinny "fresh" gold/yellow finish. That's the result of driving 19K miles rather than 9K. Note no pictures of the undercarriage... again 19K miles begins to show wear and surface rust etc...Just my opinion...FWIW,Carl B.Sorry if this is picking nits...I would say that classifying this as a #1 or #2 etc. might miss the mark with some of the collectors who care more about preservation and patina over shiny finishes and new-looking restored vehicles. This car's value (IMO, naturally) lies in the fact it has so many remaining original authentic parts with it (from what has been shown in the available pictures). The preservation movement is gaining ground at concours events...http://www.nytimes.com/2007/08/19/automobiles/collectibles/19RESTO.html?pagewanted=printGranted, Zs in general and in particular this 260Z with AT are not particularly close to concours d'elegance consideration, and most certainly are not on the radar of a Pebble Beach/Amelia Island-type collector, but this movement may bring into play a parallel standard of judging antique cars different from our typical 1-5 scale.Perhaps this car fits more of that mold... October 18, 200717 yr comment_225226 History is a little strange...RX-7 was in Vegas with a 702 area (that is Vegas)The 260Z, Trans Am and Vette are/were in Lemont, Illinois just outside Chicago...Not sure how that works...maybe this guy is a service who posts vehicles?Note that it is a Best Offer type auction...who knows what they'd take...I didn't notice that it was in Lemont before. I live about 40 minutes from there. If someone was REALLY serious about wanting this car, I could go look at it for you.Although it is a nice looking car, that is a ridiculous price for a 260Z.Marty Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/25907-hurry-up-and-bid-on-this-ebay-gem/?&page=2#findComment-225226 Share on other sites
October 18, 200717 yr comment_225248 My 78 280z was only $1000 and it had 37,000 miles on it. Mine isn't nearly as perfect as this one though. It really is perfect enough to save the pictures to use as a reference. Mine runs perfect and that's really what matters to me. (besides it's a 260; lowest horsepower Z and it's automatic making it even lower). October 19, 200717 yr comment_225301 Wow! He wants ten times what I paid for my Z!!! She is gorgeous though! And PRESTINE! But wow, that's a lot of money!!!! I could buy several slightly more flawed Z's. And God knows, you can never have to many Z's. October 20, 200717 yr comment_225452 While it might not be quite as pristine as the one on eBay, I think I'm getting a pretty good deal on this one. I can think of a lot of things to do with the $43,250.00 I'm saving too! http://www.classiczcars.com/forums/showthread.php?t=28299 Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/25907-hurry-up-and-bid-on-this-ebay-gem/?&page=2#findComment-225452 Share on other sites
