We're up north in the Bay Area, but tracking things daily and it is SO intense and makes each of us realize that there are no safety zones nor guarantees, but reading this thread and seeing the response from friends all around is heart-warming.

Jason King - don't know how much power our well wishes and/or distant reach can contribute, we care lots and hope things are vastly improved NOW!

thanks a bunch for your concern and thoughts. the winds turned around as expected and the fires have slowed their advancing. it seems as though they are all heading back east now, but with all of the support from nearby cities, states, and countries, tons of neighbourhoods have been saved. a few communities that were evacuated have been allowed back in, but the devistation is great. only 2 deaths so far, which is great (well, less bad than more deaths). seems we learned our lesson from the cedar fire of four years ago tomorrow.

our area appears to be out of harm's way, and i am hoping that the fires get contained sooner than later so fewer lives/houses are put at risk. thanks to everyone who has had us in their thoughts and prayers, and a big thanks to all of the volunteers and firefighters that have helped us all out.

I just got back from the Ritz Carlton Laguna Niguel for a conference (nice!). Lots of folks from San Diego were checking in with their kids and pets all pretty freaked out not knowing if their house was burning or not. I'm sure they were unable to enjoy the hotel considering...
