jbzcar Posted October 23, 2007 Share #1 Posted October 23, 2007 I have a '76 280Z that was running, but was left to sit for about a year. Now it seems to have a short somewhere, but I am at loss as to where to start looking. When I turn the key to ACC, things kinda seem to work. It will flip back and forth from accessories getting power to them going off half the time. However, honking the horn makes the tachometer go crazy (note that the car is NOT running at this point). Turning the key to ON and everything goes dead. All gauges go off, and I can't hear the fuel pump. Trying to actally start the car does absolutely nothing. Any ideas on this one? Nissanman Posted October 24, 2007 Share #3 Posted October 24, 2007 You don't mention about the battery.Has it also sat for a year or is it fresh and fully charged? It should be fresh if you are attempting to start a fully rested Z:eek:If it hasn't been regularly trickle charged a replacement is more than likely required.
