Good evening everyone! Wow what a great site and resource! I have always loved the Z's and just recently purchased a '71 240z "Series 1". I must say I am already addicted:) Aren't we all! How can anyone resist such a classic sports car. The Z's have so much character, style, performance, & looks! No wonder why we are all crazy over these cars.

Well a little bit about me. I grew up in Oregon and now currently live in Southern Oregon...Medford to be exact. About 20 miles from the California border for those not familiar with the area. Well while growing up in Oregon my father had a '71 240z when I was young and I always loved it. He sold it along time ago and I have always wanted one. A fews years ago my twin brother bought and restored a '78 280z and I love driving it! Sooo.....as you can imagine I had to get one for myself. I had been looking for a Z for quite some time and finally found a '71 240z.

So now I am the proud owner of a Z! It definitely needs some TLC! I am currently working on that and it will be a work in progress as many of you know the feeling I am sure!

As you can guess yes it does have RUST. That damn Rust! I found a small hole of rust in the floorboard on the passengers side and there is some that has affected the frame rail on the passengers side as well. If any of you have experienced this situation with rust in that area I would love to hear what you did and how you corrected the issue.

Your thoughts and advice are greatly appreciated! Very happy to belong to a community that is in love with the Z!

Regards,

Brooks

G'Day there Brookes,

Welcome to the club.

You want to know about car cancer??? if you use the search function, you'll find just about everything there is to know about rust in Zeds. No matter where your car has rust, at some time or another, one of our members has has remedied the problem. The same goes for any other problem you may have. However, if you can't find the answer using the search button, simply post your question and your likely to get a dozen replies.

Once again, welcome to the club.

Rick.

Looks like a nice little car!

When I bought my Z, I knew that it a) had been sitting for a little while, and B) had some problems in the passenger floorboard. What I did was buy a set of Charlie Osborne's floorpans, which I stuck over in the corner somewhere, and then I got to work on the mechanicals of the car. Once it was a safe and dependable driving car, I took it down to a welding shop and had the new passenger side pan and frame rail welded in.

Charlie's floorpans are first-rate, and if you end up needing the whole pan rather than a patch, he comes highly recommended.

My car is basically back together now, and will be going into the body shop real soon to have a nice fresh coat of 904 White applied to her.

Welcome to the club and good luck with your project!

Welcome indeed!

Wonderful that your Z runs. I have had mine for 5 years, and it has only run for the past 2 months. (You will find others like me here...)

Try the search function for information on floor rust. You will find out more than you ever wanted to know.

May all your experiences with the Z be educational or fun, preferably both!

Welcome Brooks from Med. Good to see you found a good Z. Maybe we will meet on a cruse one of these times. There is a few of us here in Or. that keep in touch via email and some times we find parts for one another. Arne , a fellow member is in Springfield down your way. Please feel free to ask for any info you need and again welcome to the club. Gary

Hello everyone thank you for the welcome! I am already addicted to my Z and this site! What a wealth of info.

I am slowly working on my Z little by little. Takes time, but as we all know it is fun working on them until you find rust!:) And yes mine does have some on the passenger side. I will more than likely need to purchase a floor panel from Charlie Osborne and have someone weld it in for me. Not sure what a reasonable price is to have it welded.

I bought this Z from a fellow up in the Portland area so not off of Ebay. As most Z's are they do have issues. Currently, mine has two issues that need immediate attention I feel. The ebrake cable is broken near the left rear wheel and the hood cable is wearing down and doesn't go back into position after you pull it. If anyone has these parts or is experienced in fixing them I would love to hear from you!

p.s. - Beandip I would really like to stay in touch with you and have already contacted Arne. Is there anyone else that you know of in Oregon?

Best Regards,

Brooks
