Twice Pipe Exhaust System

Ron,

Everything I have found is Stainless-polished or not...

Will

I haven't ruled out using stainless if it's not polished. The intermediate section I already have could be used, but it is 34 years old. I sandblasted it and covered it in cheap heat paint, with the intention of replicating it. Now that I have the dimensions/description of the rear section and some good advise on looking through the muffler shops catalogs I'll give that a go. It might save a lot of work. If I find suitable pieces, the pipes entail only a few well placed bends and some welding. Thanks for looking and everyones help.

Carl, I like the system in the pictures you attached. I printed those out to plan for the next exhaust on our track car. I bet those sound like hell, and I love the way they look. Did a very simular setup on a V8 truck years ago and there was no other sound like it on the street. Thanks

This thread is very intresting for me cause i bought a Hooker Header wich is coming down in two lines 2,5" each one. And then it ends and I dont know how to go ahead. I hope you dont mind that I`m using youre thread but I think its a very similar problem from me and maybe someone knows anything about my Hooker Header and where a complete system herefor is aviable.

Thanks.

Hmm, I would like to post a picture but it want work.:stupid:

Here's a picture of a Y-collector that a previous owner had built for the Hooker header that cam on my parts car. I'm not saying this is the best way to go, or that my example is ideal, but it does show a possibility...

Amazombi, I have been using the set-up you want for a long time. Originally, I ran the two pipes straight out the back, XKE-style. I had plenty of gas tank clearance (about 2.5cm), but they just didn't look right. I eventually routed them vertically to the original exhaust location. I'll try to post a picture so you can get the idea.

The sound is incredibly delightful, especially at 3500 - 6000 rpm. A bit BRAPPY for some, perhaps, but with my ear being about six feet from the exhaust exit, it does sound sweet. I am pretty sure the "mufflers" I installed in 1972 have disintegrated interiors and are nothing more than lengthy echo-chambers. Even then, sweet sound.

Regards,

I have the over under set up too. The pic in the first post works with the Datsun comp header. I have that set up and I run to the bolt up flanges at the rear so I can change the rear section from muffles to megaphones. My pipes are 1 3/4".

Yeah, that sounds great to me. Did you buy the hole set up or did you do it on youre own. And if you bought it, where did you?

Please do the Photo from underneed.

Here in Austria there is almost nothing to get about Datsun Z Cars.

Just stock Parts and they will be very expensiv and only to get from a Nissan Dealer.

So most I buy from Motorsport Auto or Black Dragon.

btw. I leave the Stereo out of the car! You know why? First there is a Six Pack Orchester in Front of me with triple Webers so there is no need for it and second I loose Weight!
