XjakobX Posted October 28, 2007 Share #1 Posted October 28, 2007 I just completed the first of two rusted out doglegs today, cutting out the old, de-rusting, metal prep+POR-15, and fitting and welding in the new panel. Looks pretty ok to me, i'll post pictures later for better judgement by the experts. In the mean time, i'll be out working on the floors... DeesZ Posted October 29, 2007 Share #2 Posted October 29, 2007 Please do post pictures... If you have any before, during, and after repair that would be great! This is a project that I must face myself very soon. (I wish I knew how to weld.) Where did you get the doglegs.... Tabco?
XjakobX Posted October 29, 2007 Author Share #3 Posted October 29, 2007 Yes, they were the tabco body panels. I need to order the drivers' real lower quarter and the passenger rocker panel as well, just haven't had the spare change to get them yet. Been working on the floors... Bread-Man280 Posted November 1, 2007 Share #4 Posted November 1, 2007 Hi,I've tried to order the rear lower 1/4s from Tabco for about 3 months now. I need both and made the request back in early August. They told my dad that the stamp machine is needing some sort of repair and said that it would be ready to go very soon (about a month). Now it's November and he made another call to them just a week ago to order a lower fender patch and also to check the status of the 1/4s. The panels usually get here in about 4 days and it has not come either. I'm patiently awaiting the fender patch, but the 1/4s are gonna be a different story. For all I know they'll be shipped tomorrow. I'm just giving you a heads-up, and suggest trying another body panel supplier..... Good luck with the repairs, Bread

Good luck with the repairs, Bread The problem is, as far as I know, is that Tabco is the supplier for these panels for all others that sell them, like Mills Supply, etc. Your best bet is trying these other options and see if they have some in their inventory. The first time I ordered from Tabco it was fine and quick, the next time I waited a long time, called them and decided to try Mills Supply and they got here pretty quick. It all probably depends on if they have some in inventory. http://www.rustrepair.com/app2/onlinecat.htm?r=ms&p=sm
a7dz Posted November 2, 2007 Share #6 Posted November 2, 2007 I got the same story over two years ago. I bought them from Motor sport for less money. Had them in my hands less then a week later. Even had Tabco stickers on them.
Arne Posted November 2, 2007 Share #7 Posted November 2, 2007 I ordered one from Tabco last week. I was told that it would be shipped this week. I guess I better give them a call to check on status.
Bread-Man280 Posted November 3, 2007 Share #8 Posted November 3, 2007 My dad got a few other suppliers to check with while he was on the phone with them (back in mid November). I don't know if Mill's was one of those numbers he got, but he said that the guy seemed to want to just get him off the line, quite understandable - my dad had been checking with them for awhile. They probably got used to hearing his voice... I'll see if my dad talked to the Mills place and find out if they have any in stock. Plus their prices are a bit lower than Tabco, so I'll have my fingers crossed. Bread
