October 29, 200717 yr comment_226553 I'd say yes, it is. The Toyo Z1 in 175HR14 was a common fitment to the '71-73 240Z, the other common choice was a Bridgestone. The date code indicates your tire was built in the 39th week of 1971. How does that jive with your car's build date? October 29, 200717 yr comment_226648 The eBayer of that tire is rather mis-informed. No 240Z ever came with Michelins. The tire in the auction is a Michelin 175R14 XWW (white-wall) that dates from the mid-70s. November 26, 200717 yr comment_229743 Hey zhead240 ,my71 came with the factory spare in the wheel tub when I bought my car this past summer . It's a bridgestone and it doesn't look like it saw pavement at all . I'll post a pic or two .Chris Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/26051-spare-tire/#findComment-229743 Share on other sites
November 26, 200717 yr comment_229751 ...It's a bridgestone and it doesn't look like it saw pavement at all ...ChrisKats is looking to buy an original bridgestone to complete his set, but he is looking for an SR14 instead of the later HR14. My 10/70 parts car came with a perfect SR14, but mine is a Toyo Z-1, like zhead240's.-Mike Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/26051-spare-tire/#findComment-229751 Share on other sites
November 26, 200717 yr comment_229753 Of all the originality of my red car, an original spare was something I did NOT get. It came to me with a 14x6 chrome wheel and an oversize worn tire in the spare well. I built up a stock 4.5" wheel with a lightly used Michelin 175HR14 for my spare, but would love to get an original someday, HR of either Bridgestone or Toyo. It's just not real high on the priority list right now. Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/26051-spare-tire/#findComment-229753 Share on other sites

I still have the original spare (Bridgestone RD-150) in my car but it's been on the ground several times when I've had flats. One of these days I need to pull the Bridgestone off and put a new tire on. Not sure I would want to drive very far on a 35 year old tire ... November 26, 200717 yr comment_229778 Yeah, but assuming these aren't all trailer queens, would you really want 35+ year old rubber as a spare...Or is this just for show judging... November 26, 200717 yr comment_229781 It happens to be what I have without a choice in matter , although if someone were to be build a trailer queen this would be a great addition .Food for thought. I do agree that I do need a new spare , until then I'm going to hope for the best and expect the worst . Hopefully I'm not hexing myself .
