Darbji280z Posted November 6, 2007 Share #1 Posted November 6, 2007 I have decided to put them on my Z. Which oes are the best to get? And does such a thing exist as headlight covers without that edge in them? You know, just smooth ones? Anyway, I need some suggestions.

zbane Posted November 6, 2007 Share #4 Posted November 6, 2007 i prefer factory Jason, you are so bad... Darbji, have you decided about getting the smoked lenses or the clear ones?
justin260z Posted November 6, 2007 Share #5 Posted November 6, 2007 If I may suggest, dont get the smoked headlight covers unless you have very powerful headlights, or a GOOD pair of driving lights. I put the smoked ones on my Z with Sylvania Silverstar headlights, and its simply not bright enough by any means, but I dont have driving lights.Regards,Justin
d240zx2 Posted November 6, 2007 Share #6 Posted November 6, 2007 Most of you know that my Z is old. Real old. So are the headlight covers I bought to put on it in '72. Just now got around to it. Now I find that the right cover has "grown." Yep, it's too wide for the scoop, and extends out about 3/8" from the scoop edge. The right cover is perfect.Question: Would judicious use of a heat gun and a bit of constant pressure bring the cover back in line with the scoop edge? Anyone with any sort of experience in that regard???Regards,
justin260z Posted November 6, 2007 Share #7 Posted November 6, 2007 They are plastic, or glass?

It's a continuation of the body line from the fender to the hood. But get clear, not smoked for the reason that Justin mentioned.
EScanlon Posted November 6, 2007 Share #9 Posted November 6, 2007 When you say "without that edge in them" are you referring to the body line coming from the hood edge transitioning to the fender side like Stephen mentions or are you referring to the chrome trim on the OEM style?E

justin260z Posted November 7, 2007 Share #12 Posted November 7, 2007 Regarding post #7.They're plastic.I wouldnt use a heat gun on the plastic headlight covers. My headlight covers were off a little bit, and I just snuged them up with the bolts.
