Hello, Im new to this forum and bought a 78' 280z w/ the (83ZX L28 Nonturbo engine+tranny) I recently have heard noise whenever the rpms are at 1K at idle and while driving. It hasn't caused any affect on performance it is just really loud and annoying. I used the search tool but im not sure whether it is the fan clutch, waterpump bearings going bad, or if the belt is just loose. I don't know what any of these sound like but the noise is a high pitched squeal. Im somewhat thinking it is the belt because when i put a little baby powder on it the noise was lower but then became louder. I don't have AC or Power Steering. I will post a video of it on youtube as reference.

I'm not to sure on replacing the belts or how to change the tension on them. My previous cars were a 03 Hyundai Elantra and an 87 Dodge Daytona Turbo. My experience is mostly in suspension.(Auto-X)

I'll the belt grease and see what happens, how do i check the bearings on the pulley? Just see if they have any play while the belt is attached or would I need to remove the belt to do that?

for the pullies what i've done on other cars is pull them off and put one on your finger and spin it. if it makes noise or feels notchy the bearings are toast and it'll need to be replaced. very common on my old car (grand prix) for them to go.
