Posted November 6, 200717 yr comment_227593 I recently sold my '99 Honda XR650L (dual sport) and bought this '07 DRZ400s over the weekend. It arrived today and thought I'd show her off! November 6, 200717 yr comment_227594 Your new bike looks sweet. I was just saying the other day I would like to get an XL650 but now that I see your Suzuki I dont know. I want to pick up a dual sport I think it would be a lot of fun. I have been riding for 30 years. Currently I have a Honda Rancher not much fun on the road haha. I did just pick up a Honda scooter for $100. I couldnt pass up the deal its just a little 50cc 2 stroke but it hauls me around off road. I dont think I will ever put a plate on it but I do ride it around my house on the road. Anyway bike looks good. November 7, 200717 yr Author comment_227609 Thanks, the 650l's are a whole lot heavier (very very top heavy) and doesn't feel as much like a dirt bike as the DRZ when comparing the two. Not saying the 650L is a bad bike, but they aren't going to be as much as bike you can though around and much and do doughnuts for example. November 7, 200717 yr comment_227612 Pretty bike. I would never own one myself you understand...Dirt bikes and compound fractures have too strong of a positive correlation for people like me who take medicine to prevent blood clots... November 7, 200717 yr comment_227684 Nice looking bike, it definately looks lighter than a 650. I bet you can't wait to get out there and get it dirty. I ride a Kawasaki KLR 650, it's 350 pounds dry, fill the 6.1 gallon gas tank and you're almost right at 400 lbs. It's great in the dirt but tends to bury the rear wheel in sand, gotta keep it spinning. Dirt bike / dual sport, two different beasts! I'd never think of taking a jump on my bike unless I was being chased by a bear or something. I'm older and just use it for trail riding. Have fun! November 7, 200717 yr Author comment_227686 Thanks guys, light it is. With the 6.1 gallon tank, you oughta' be able to ride to the moon and back! Nice looking bike. November 7, 200717 yr comment_227703 I'm a dirt bike guy myself and own an 02 Honda CRF450R (set-up for desert) and an 06 Husqvarna TE510 enduro bike for the dual sport stuff (is plated). If you ride mainly on the road and occasionally off road, your bike choice was good. Enjoy! And, keep the rubber side down!!!Tom Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/26145-bought-a-new-motorcycle-pictures/#findComment-227703 Share on other sites
November 7, 200717 yr comment_227714 My how the technology has changed! My 1967 CL/77 Scrambler is classified as a "dual sport" but riding that in the dirt (or sometimes on the road) is a more harrowing proposition!
