Posted November 13, 200717 yr comment_228440 Hi, I live in Monmouth County in New Jersey and just recently purchased 1975 280Z. The car failed state inspection due to emissions. Therefore, to pass inspection I am tiring to find someone to service my Z, and having a problem doing so. I even called several Nissan dealerships and they did not even know what a Datsun was, incredible. Does anyone know of someone who works on Z cars in Monmouth County New Jersey? Thanks Mike Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/26219-help-getting-repairs-for-280z/ Share on other sites
November 13, 200717 yr comment_228480 First of all Welcome to the Club The only Nissan dealer in my town has the "books" for Datsun Z's as far as I know what to charge you. But when I went to get mine fixed the guy in charge said they don't have anyone here that knows about these cars. He said they used to have a guy who was a Nissan/Datsun mechanic for 35 years but moved to Texas. "All the other guys", he said ,"only know how to work on these cars right here". And I mind you he was pointing at Buick Centuries  :hurt: Your best bet is look for one owner Import / Specialties shops or even shops that specialize in restoration and upkeep / maintinance of classics. It's usually those kinds of places you'll find that has that one guy in there who knows what he's doing by fact of knowledge on a Z. At least around here IMHO. ~Z~ Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/26219-help-getting-repairs-for-280z/#findComment-228480 Share on other sites
November 13, 200717 yr comment_228482 Those are precisely the reasons I learned how to fix them myself as well as air conditioning systems. Few shops or dealerships know how to work on 'Datsuns' or want to work on anything the requires the use of R12 refrigerant.
