Interesting article in the Nov. Classic Motorsports Magazine, on their Z Car project. Engine rebuilt by Sunbelt Performance, Balanced Performance Motorsports and John Williams in Atlanta, GA.

Stock L24 started at 134 HP at the rear wheels... and 169 HP after the rebuild....

FWIW,

Carl B.

....and the reason you didn't share it with the rest of us at that time....is??.....

1) They've been on that build for about a year, so it's not really a "new" article

2) Maybe you missed my thread.

Someone brought attention to that CM issue in an earlier thread (which I can't find right at the moment), so I went and read the article, bought the issue and decided to give it a go.

Too often we throw around HP numbers (stock by year and model) and it was nice to see their dyno rwhp numbers for an L24 engine in stock mode. Not bad for a car that listed as having 150hp@crank.

For me, that means I've added 117 more rwhp with my NA 3.2L L28 in a '72. A turbo would likely done better but I like the sound of the triple 44mms as they open up and the quick response time from foot to foot pounds.

Hi Steven:

It wasn't the "project" that caught my attention - it was more specifically Sunbelt Performance and John Williams. Some of us know John, and were just talking about his driving etc at the recent ARRC...

Sunbelt Performance and John did the rebuild and restoration on my BRE Z's engine...

Sorry to say I did miss your earlier thread about the exhaust system... I'm sure I would have followed it had I seen it. I owned/operated a muffler shop for a couple years... built a lot of exhaust systems for Z's in the mid-70's... Glad to see that MSA seems to have improved theirs...

FWIW,

Carl
