Nice 280 fetching fair price on ebay

Or how about how mine purchase went down...

I set my max bid at $X.

Last day of bidding starts with reserve met at $1,000 under $X. A 2nd bidder comes in and starts entering bids...as soon as my reserve is crossed, bidder #2 cancels bid, which seller does not contest and I'm paying my max bid...

Guess who bidder #2 might have been. Complained to Ebay and got the generic "we will investigate but due to privacy will not communicate findings"...

Lesson, be wary of canceled bids...

This is what is commonly referred to as "schill bidding" and it does violate Ebay policy. It happens when a seller has another user bid or has another account and bids in order to drive up the price. I know (at least in the past) you cannot retract a bid in the auctions final 24 hours, that may have changed. That discouraged the schill bids.

I do know that if there is a cancelled bid, and you were the second highest bidder as in Big Oaks case, the bid should be reindtated as it was before, not at your max bid price.

My dealings with second chance offers lately, especially when bidding on Z's, they were all scams and are to be avoided, unless you can confirm without a doubt the identity of the seller. If you get a scond chance offer in email form and it is legitimate, it will also appear in your "my messages" folder of "My ebay". If it does not, it is a scam.

I only wish the Z I finally ended up buying would have gone this way, as I was the one that got taken :( Grossly misrepresented in ad and emails, 3 months to get a title...buyer beware!!

Hi Y'all. Been trackin' on this thread for awhile and have develoloped a burning question that I have to ask. Is there a member on here interested in a 280Z of better condition than the 2 mentioned earlier on here for less money? Can't shake out whether there is a real interest in 280's or if this is just conversation. Any interest in a good one, email me off list. It's a friend's Z and is not ready to go on the market 'til the engine is back together.

I'm brand new here! Been looking on Ebay to pick up a 240. Been outid so far and could kick myself for being out on one that only sold for 7G's out of Fla. tricked out by Blackopperformance. There's a black 78 280 with a buy it now of 6400, It looks so good I may change my wishlist!

I'd be kind of afraid of the Megasquirt that the seller obviously hasn't dialed in yet. That coupled with the fact that many of the components that are required for the stock injection appear to be missing which would make his claim of easy swithcabailty back and forth between the two systems sound somewhat questionable.

That car is about fifty miles from me, so I was looking at the photos and description myself.

I think that Steven could be absolutely right. I had a Megasquirt setup in my 510, and while it's a lot of fun to set up, it can also be a real headache. He may have built this car as a rocket ship, can't get it quite right and his wife is all over him because the car isn't 'dependable'.

If I were installing a Megasquirt fuel injection system, I'd want to do it from scratch. You have no idea what this guy has done, and tuning it could be a real nightmare if he's done something screwy.
