Posted November 17, 200717 yr comment_228896 I am posting pics of my newly purchased '75 280z. I will admit not knowing much about z cars, but I have read a lot this weekend on the forum. It is an original 43K mile car and as far as I can tell, it has the original spark plugs. There are 4 work orders in the records. New fuel pump in 1991, new clutch plate in 1999, new distributor in 2001, and new muffler and exhaust pipe this year. It is a 2 owner car, and everything except the clock works. The A/C blows very cold. Exterior had one rust spot on the kick panel driver's side which was repaired and repainted. Otherwise, the paint is supposed to be original. No rust currently. I posted a lot of pictures. If there is anything obviously not original or out of place in the engine bay, please let me know. My initial thought was to replace the worn suspension bits, add exhaust headers, and new 16 in wheels -- plus maybe a cold air intake and new throttle body and call it a day. Other option is to just leave it as original as possible. What do you think? November 17, 200717 yr comment_228897 Very nice looking ride, welcome to the club...My 280Z won't arrive for a couple of weeks so I can't comment on the originality. November 17, 200717 yr comment_228900 Welcome! And congrats on your purchase. My knowledge is primarily on 240Zs, not so much with 280Zs. But I can say for certain that the blue paint is NOT original, or even the original color. The car was originally that gold color you see on the inner fenders under the hood. November 17, 200717 yr comment_228903 I would just leave it original. But that's just me! I dont think these cars don't look very good with 16s. November 17, 200717 yr comment_228904 ^ I agree. I went with 15" Panasports for that reason. Nice to see another SC Z owner. Car looks pretty sweet. November 17, 200717 yr comment_228911 Welcome to the club Brad! Good to see another Z owner in Chucktown! I am from the Charleston area and will be transferring back next summer. What side of town are you on? You car looks really stock... aside from the color change. It really is ones perrogative as to what to do with their Z, but my take is that it's all goo as long as it can be easily converted back to stock. I don't share the same sentiments on wheels as Mark and Nick... I feel that 16's look the best on Z's, especially the panasports! Anyway... wheels, exhaust, suspension and brakes... that oughta cover it. Nate 16's and lowered using Eibach progressive rate springs and Tokico HP struts plus polyurethane bushings ... also, take note of the front plate... SC Flag baby! November 18, 200717 yr comment_228916 Congrats on the Z, she looks vary good. And yes the Z was originally Gold. So there goes originality. If this was my car , I would put a nice set of 15'' mags on her , from there , enjoy the ride. SC Flag baby! Thanks to all for the comments. I live on Johns Island. Very new to the Z thing and although I have always been a car guy, I know nothing about these cars. The blue paint had absolutely no overspray, and it looks like Imron to I thought it was original. Oh well. I have driven the car for 200 miles just to sort things out, and the clock started working! But it is now time to start the modifications... November 18, 200717 yr comment_228995 Niec Z! Love the Blue Especially the openning shot of the headlight bucket. Also thanks for the ones of the engine bay, I have a stray hose going nowhere and a spring without a home (took my manifolds off). Now I know where they go :stupid: Nothing wrong at all with '16 rims in my book Bro. Might wanna make sure you have enough clearance on the new rims incase you wanna upgrade to the Disc Brake conversion later though. You should chime in on this thread here BTW now since member MGOOD mentions the fact link -> http://classiczcars.com/forums/showthread.php?t=28561&highlight=280z ~Z~ Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/26271-new-z-owner-from-sc-opinions-wanted/#findComment-228995 Share on other sites
