zbane Posted November 18, 2007 Share #1 Posted November 18, 2007 Thought this might be of interest. As is, the car is at $750 (no bids). Located in Albuquerque, NM. Nasty front end damage, but doesn't look insurmountable. Interior is fairly well shot, dash doesn't look bad. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/70-Datsun-240Z-Project-Car_W0QQitemZ190174886633QQihZ009QQcategoryZ6187QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem Thought someone out there might like this one for parts. bigoak Posted November 18, 2007 Share #2 Posted November 18, 2007 Man does that look like a lot of work...even for a part out, not much there that is relatively clean...
lonetreesteve Posted November 18, 2007 Share #3 Posted November 18, 2007 I e-mailed the seller to find out what the VIN number is. In the unlikely event it's a sub-500, I'll bid and if I win, I'll drive down and get it, it's only 6 hours south of here!
sblake01 Posted November 18, 2007 Share #4 Posted November 18, 2007 At least, you'll be getting a good engine even though it's been sitting 8 years because "the carbs were removed, and the engine sealed up to protect in from the elements". geezer Posted November 18, 2007 Share #5 Posted November 18, 2007 If anyone from this board buys this car and has a way to collect them, I'll donate the hood, fenders, grill, etc. to the cause. There is no one else around here with a Z to sell the parts to and they are too big to ship.

It is #2936, so I would guess a March or early April 1970. The rear plastic interior panel doesn't have tailight access holes, so I could tell it was a fairly early car. I like the blue interiors and would really like to have a car with one some day.-Mike
hd240z Posted November 18, 2007 Share #7 Posted November 18, 2007 FWIW from the pictures, it appears to have a later transmission (5 speed?)based on the shift lever shape and the carbs appear to be something other than original SUs. It would be nice to know a little more history, the VIN and engine numbers.Edit, Thanks for the VIN update Mike B

I agree with you, I would like to see someone save this car and restore her. Since it's an Albuquerque car, it probably doesn't have much rust (except for small amount that the seller mentions plus the front end where it was wrecked and the bare metal was left to the elements). I like the blue interior also, my latest project is the white /blue combo as well.
Walter Moore Posted November 19, 2007 Share #9 Posted November 19, 2007 The damage from the wreck is mostly cosmetic. It needs a hood, grill, lower valance, etc but otherwise it looks salvageable. There seems to be a lot of missing interior parts however... I would check that the frame is straight. But if you get it, good luck.
lonetreesteve Posted November 26, 2007 Share #10 Posted November 26, 2007 Looks like the car sold for the $750.00 minimum with 1 bid. I sure hope the buyer plans to restore the car and not part it out.
