WingZr0 Posted November 20, 2007 Share #1 Posted November 20, 2007 I'm trying to find the name of this part and it's part number hopefully. It bolts onto the side of the Thermostat Housing on a 1977 280Z, (California Model if it makes a difference). Looks like a water inlet elbow like this one on Ebay for a 520 and 521 pickups. It's also shaped exactly this one right here. ~Z~
Arne Posted November 20, 2007 Share #2 Posted November 20, 2007 I'm not certain, but it looks like the same elbow that goes into the rear of a 240Z cylinder head, just below the #6 spark plug. If so, the part number is 27195-E4400, my dealer charged me less than $7 for it last year (club discount).

Arne Posted November 20, 2007 Share #5 Posted November 20, 2007 I was afraid that you'd say something like that. I looked at my parts CD and don't find any elbows listed there for a 280Z.
zbane Posted November 20, 2007 Share #6 Posted November 20, 2007 It is a connector that goes to your thermal vacuum coupling.

WingZr0 Posted November 20, 2007 Author Share #8 Posted November 20, 2007 I think you may be referring to the thermal vacuum switch/actuator.Is that it?A MSA rep said Cold Start Heater Hose but he was kind ofclueless though no foult of his own.Well I can say at least coolant comes out of it. zbane Posted November 20, 2007 Share #9 Posted November 20, 2007 Is that it?A MSA rep said Cold Start Heater Hose but he was kind ofclueless though no foult of his own.my bad, I edited after you posted this. The part you are looking for (unless I am mistaken) is an elbow that goes from your therm housing to your vacuum actuator. At least that is what it does on my zx. Getting that little two inch bit of hosing on there is a real pain.

sblake01 Posted November 20, 2007 Share #11 Posted November 20, 2007 David is right as to what that part is but it's one of those mysterious parts that doesn't show up on the parts lists/microfiche. Nissan might still sell it but I was never able to find a part number to give them so I kept searching the junkyards until I found a good one. Use good quality hose and clamps when you do it becaue like he says it's a pain to work with and you'll want to get it right the first time.
