November 22, 200717 yr Author comment_229386 How come nobody mentioned the site here for sales? Only my second day on the site - still learning how to traverse it. Spent the last 2 hrs looking. Do the cars stay up for sale that long? Are all sellers members and reputable? November 22, 200717 yr comment_229389 My advice would be to avoid Ebay (just too many bad things with Z cars on ebay...search the site). With any prospective Z car purchase, ensure the car is inspected (ask on the board, it's likely there is a member nearby to check it out...expect a small fee or free). As for this site, it doesn't seem to attract as many classified listings for some reason. Possibly because the hard core users here love their Z's and relatively few would offer them up for sale.Craigslist or Kijiji (in Canada) are places you might be able to pick something off at a relatively cheap price for the quality. You can also check www.Zcar.com . It is another decent Z car website (the tech forums are extensive, but not as nicely organized or as extensive as this site). It seems to attract more classifieds for some reason.Good hunting. November 23, 200717 yr Author comment_229507 Thanks 'BigOak' for the heads up on the other z site. Hit it last night and left some feelers out there. Might wait til after Christmas, when sellers may need money a little more. Though, that means my stocking will be empty! Thanks to everyone else for the good advice! Oh, and maybe your 280 will be finished by then, Bruce. November 23, 200717 yr comment_229515 Not sure on waiting...This is the time when a lot of people are looking at putting the vehicle away for the winter and prices are depressed. In the spring, demand for summer vehicles increases and prices on vehicles in decent working order will slide upwards.1. Set your search criteria: - year(s)/model(s) - general condition/amount of work you are willing/able to do - willingness to ship2. Set your budget 3. Just keep trolling the sites. There are some great deals to be had if you know specifically what you want (witness the link on California Z's). Cheers and good luck. November 24, 200717 yr Author comment_229569 A $36 'Z'. Didn't see pics of it myself but great investment if you want to part it out. As for me, I can do basic stuff like tuneups or oil changes or replace stuff given proper directions. Major engine and body work is out of my expertise, so I need a pretty whole car. Wisdom and practicality say don't get it, but I guesss I'm not that SMART! November 26, 200717 yr comment_229798 I'd definately get some more photos of the underside and other rust prone areas in light of those black painted sills. Looks more like a "refresh" than a "restore". November 26, 200717 yr comment_229800 The hood is sitting a little proud on the drivers side... but not on the passenger. It looks to be a quick repaint.. Why take the time to paint the rockers black when there is no rust? it looks suspicious.... definitely pull the carpet up on both sides and inspect the floors and rockers. Don't forget the spare tire well and the rear dog legs... Just my 2c...
