mazdatsun428 Posted December 4, 2007 Share #14 Posted December 4, 2007 RX7's are pretty poor in the snow as are most rwd vehicles. A Trooper is also a good choice and pretty cheap. Bewary of last gen. ones as tranny gives out at 70000+. Dealer wanted 5K+ for a rebuilt one-installed. Luckily, had friend of friend who rebuilt and installed mine for less than 1K. Don't know terrain up there, but my sister in Chicago only has had a FWD vehicle in almost 40 yrs there. Something to be said for flat terrain. mazdatsun428 Posted December 4, 2007 Share #18 Posted December 4, 2007 My brother is out West now. He bought a H3 last year. What for? Is it status out there or maybe manhood issues?
WingZr0 Posted December 4, 2007 Share #19 Posted December 4, 2007 Everthing is about style out here, but the only thing you get out of a H3 is gas prices :dead:.......and a target for Tree Huggers.Besides, the real Hummers don't have body armor anyway,so what does that prove? It proves that it's WEAK !~Z~
KDMatt Posted December 17, 2007 Author Share #20 Posted December 17, 2007 Hey Mars, thanks for the offer, PA is a little far, and I've actually got a winter car now anyway I found a lovely little 88 Prelude at a trade-in dealership about 5 minutes from my apartment. Almost ZERO rust. It's still pretty rough around the edges, but it still runs and drives. I'm hoping over winter break I can spend some time fixing all of the little quirks that are wrong with it and make it really solid. Found 'er on craigslist and paid $600! I'm a happy camper! http://minneapolis.craigslist.org/car/510173601.html
red_dog007 Posted December 17, 2007 Share #21 Posted December 17, 2007 Any Subaru, which some early 90's can be found for cheap. I think that some models in this time were FWD, so make sure you get AWD. Anything else with AWD or 4x4. I would go with just about any jeep or truck with 4x4, isuzu trooper/rodeo can be found for cheap, mitsubishi suv's are cheap, ect.Maybe a Datsun truck with 4x4!? Though I personally would either get a truck, a Subaru, or a Jeep and must have AWD or 4x4.Plus ABS and Traction Control would be a nice addition also. Hrududu Posted December 17, 2007 Share #22 Posted December 17, 2007 If you want to come to PA I have 2 Honda Accords one 86 and one 89. Both run great but need a little attention. Both for $850 you come and get them.I can't really remember seeing any Hondas in PA. Where my parents grew up near Pittsburgh nobody drove imports. Bad for the American steel industry i guess. Complete opposite here in KS. Seems like almost everybody drives Hondas and Toyotas.
full house Posted December 17, 2007 Share #23 Posted December 17, 2007 A Jeep would be a pretty sweet snow car, but yes I agree all I really need is front wheel drive... but I'd be okay with rear wheel drive too. Here are the two top contenders for me right now: http://minneapolis.craigslist.org/car/480722991.html http://minneapolis.craigslist.org/car/477301622.html This dude I met told me the best winter car he ever had was a 280zx with monster snow tires. (I sort of want to try that out, and it would be nice, considering I know the L28 like the back of my hand now :rambo:) Oh, and I'm not actually at the U of M, but close... right across the street from the West Bank pretty much. those are nice, I'll give you some list of honda accord and cheap. http://cars.ozfreeonline.com/search.php?keyword_text=honda+accord&keyword_submit= just take a look and compare! sblake01 Posted December 17, 2007 Share #24 Posted December 17, 2007 Why would you even post that here? It smacks of commercialism anyway considering the link in your signature but I don't see how that helps this thread. KDMatt is in the US, you're in the Philippines, and those cars you listed are in Australia.:stupid:
