They come stock with a turbo if you get a 280ZX Turbo model. They made ZX's with and without the turbo. The power to weight ratio is about what you'd expect from a 25 year old semi-sports car. The turbo model, of course, would be quicker but by the time they made the 280ZX and even back to the first 280Z they were heavier than the 240/260Z and were headed more towards the sports/luxury market than the earlier S30s. They have air conditioning, power steering, cruise control, etc and are not nearly the sports car that the 240Z is. And this opinion, and it's only my opinion, comes from a 280Z owner. I'm sure you'll get other opinions here but they're not bad cars (ZXs) but don't expect a race car. One of the girls that used to work where I work called me 'Scuba Steve'.

stock zx is 130 on the n/a and 180 for a turbo. They are fun but a well tuned honda will stay with or slightly outrun the n/a. get a manual download from carfiche. get some tools remember the car is old enough to drink so you might wind up working on it. Change out the stock air filter for a k&n and put in a bigger exhaust. Get you a couple extra ponies for not a lot of money. Tried to give my son an 81 turbo for FREE and he refused saying looks werent' right. So he got my z31 instead (not FREE)
